Viper kits
Kits come with the collar and a grease pump. Seals, scrapers and cleaners are sized to your rope, so they are ordered separately.
Find the seals and cleaner for your rope
Measure the rope in service with a caliper first. Seals are sized to the measured diameter, not the nominal size, and they are made slightly smaller than the rope so they close onto it: up to 3 mm smaller on 6- and 8-strand rope, no more than 1 mm smaller on compacted, rotation-resistant and other smooth ropes.

Lubricants
Viper units are designed for wire rope grease from NLGI 00 to NLGI 2. Viper makes two lubricants for them, and approves a list of other makers’ wire rope lubricants as well; ask us if you want to keep using the lubricant your rope maker recommends.
Spares to keep on hand
Cleaners wear out first, typically after 2,000 to 4,000 m of rope, and seals after about 10,000 m, depending on the rope’s condition. Order a spare set of cleaners with the kit, and seals for every rope size you lubricate.

Add what you need to your quote list and send it. Tell us the crane, the rope diameter you measured and the rope construction, and we will check the seal and cleaner sizes before we quote.
How a Viper works
Clean and pressure-lubricate a crane rope in one pass, at the speed the winch runs. A Viper collar clamps around the rope. Seals at each end close onto it, and grease is pumped into the collar under pressure, so it is pushed into the rope and down to the core instead of sitting on the outside. Rope cleaners ahead of the collar strip old grease and grit first.
