Where the standard that applies to your crane type and where it ships (ASME B30.30, CSA Z150, CSA Z248, API or ISO 4309) requires proof testing of the assembly, the proof test is included in the price. If you need other testing or certificates, tell us when you ask for a quote.
Free with every duty cycle crane rope quote: a go/no-go sheave gauge for your crane winch. Buy from us or not, it’s yours, as a thank-you for giving us a shot. Canada and USA.
Estimates are for the rope assembly, including the end fittings named in the part number (poured or pressed buttons, spelter sockets or swaged fittings), from current rope maker list prices. Each range runs from the most economical rope that meets spec to a higher-quality rope. Freight is free in Canada and the lower 48 states (hotshot freight is extra). Tariffs and taxes are extra and shown on their own line of your quote. Your quote confirms the price.
Most crane winches can take several ropes that meet the crane maker’s specification. Crane makers fit different ropes depending on lifting height, configuration, region and rope maker, and we also offer aftermarket ropes that meet or exceed the OEM spec. The low end of each range is the most economical rope that meets spec; the high end is a higher-quality rope.
On day one they perform the same. Over time, a higher-quality rope keeps its rotation resistance and stability until it wears out normally, with crown wire breaks. A cheaper rope tends to twist up without obvious signs of wear, and is more likely to jump sheaves later in life. Tell us how you run the crane and we will recommend the rope that fits your work and your budget. How to choose a crane rope.
Tariffs on imported steel rope change often and depend on where the rope is made and where it ships. They are not in these estimates: your quote shows them on their own line, so you can see the rope price matches. Freight is free in Canada and the lower 48 states; hotshot freight is extra.

Rope diameter depends on the winch package on your machine. Lengths depend on boom length and reeving, so pick a recorded length or enter your own. Successor of the HS 8070 HD and HS 845 HD (24, 26 or 30 mm hoist ropes, 18 mm boom hoist).
Liebherr specifies the hoist rope on the HS 8070.1 by mode of operation: object handling, grab, slurry wall grab, hydraulic slurry wall grab, dragline and dynamic soil compaction, in single-rope or two-rope operation. The diameter stays the same. What changes is the rope construction, and hoist winch 1 and hoist winch 2 often need different ropes. Pick your mode on each hoist winch and we will supply the right rope for each drum.
Every Liebherr HS generation and its rope sizes, from the HS 835 HD to the HS 8300.2: Liebherr HS series wire rope.
Worn sheaves are responsible for 90%+ of the problems we deal with. Check your sheaves with these groove gauges before installing the new rope.
Why 0.25 mm steps and not a go / no-go gauge? A go / no-go gauge only tells you pass or fail. A set in 0.25 mm steps shows how far the groove has worn, so you know how much life the sheave has left and whether it will make it through the next job.
Stainless steel gauges from each rope's nominal diameter up to nominal +10%. CA$7.50 (US$5.36) a gauge. About our sheave gauges.
Tell us the standard you inspect to in your quote list: it sets the minimum groove size we mark on the gauges. It does not change the price.

Pick a solution and the winches. We match the parts to each rope's size, construction and lay, and your quote list shows every part number and price. Seals and cleaners fit the measured rope diameter, so measure each rope before you order; we confirm the sizes before we ship.

When you buy a rope from us, we would love your retired rope too. We donate it to Ropes for Riggers. The rope is recycled and the proceeds fund scholarships for people entering the crane and rigging trades.
We coordinate pickup or drop-off, with no minimum. Outside our area we confirm any freight cost with you first. Ropes for Riggers has applied for charity status, and tax receipts will be available soon. How the donation works.
